October 25th, 2017 marked the end of an era. The St. Augustine Senior Boys Soccer team had completed their season, finishing with 0 wins, 7 losses, and 1 tie. Although this may not seem like the best record on paper, you best believe that these boys played their hearts out. I recently had the chance to attend one of their games against St. Maximilian Kolbe. I watched as they ran drills, plays, and came on the field with an unbelievable amount of team spirit. The boys played amazing defense and the team chemistry was clearly shown. Our grade 11 winger, Bilal Mehran, scored the first goal of the season that ended the game, with the Titans losing 1-4. If you asked me what game they played the best, I’d say the game against Newmarket High School, where they lost 2-3. In his debut, grade 11 centre-back John Ntoukas, scored a beautiful curling shot, that left the keeper with no chance at saving it. Bijan Merali, our grade 12 striker also scored a clinical goal, that put the Titans up 2-0 at halftime. The boys showed unbelievable spirit and determination throughout all eight games. Despite the score lines, they showed the other schools that the Titans were quite the team, despite them only being together for approximately a month. Go Titans Go!
