On Friday October 27, 2017, students of St. Augustine ventured outside to join in the festivities in spite of the crisp, autumn air. St. Augustine’s first ever fall carnival, organized by the Student Activity Council (SAC), officially began at 2:00PM. Some classes went down to the fields earlier to watch the invigorating games of bubble soccer played by the students and teachers. The cheer team was also in the fields, donning their Titans spirit wear and bringing school cheer.
Many of the clubs took part in the carnival with booths selling and offering a variety of goodies and activities. Animal Rights Committee sold sweet, fluffy cotton candy for only two dollars a container. They offered cotton candy in pink or blue or, if you wanted to get the best of both worlds, purple! Best Buddies offered some delicious poppin’ popcorn for just two dollars while Spectrum had cool drinks to go with the autumn-y season.
Spectrum also hosted a game in which students could knock down cans symbolizing stigmas against mental illness. Pumpkins that were sold by Eco Team could be decorated with paint and brought home just in time for Halloween. Matt 25 had a free photo booth where students could take silly pictures with their friends using props such as headbands, masks, and hats. In the mood for crispy delights? The food truck was your next stop with its variety of mouth-watering fries!
With all the activities to do and entertainment to see, St. Augustine’s first fall carnival was a huge success. So keep your eyes peeled for the next one because you sure don’t want to miss out on all the fun!
