On Saturday November 25, 2017, Titans Debate Team set foot on a new frontier. For their first Pro Con Debating Forum Competition, the Debate Team swooped in and out, ranking fifth place overall out of the twelve competing schools. A special mention went out to Alison B. who had an exceptionally outstanding score of 125 points, ranking her in fourth place with only a seven point difference from the first place.

The junior and senior debate teams tackled the thought-provoking prompt  of “should Torontonians be allowed to raise chickens in their backyard?” with dexterity and expertise. The senior team, consisting of Alison B., Emily S., John A., and Thomas A., brought up wonderful points with their articulate, mind-boggling arguments. The junior team, consisting of Zinnia C., Venice T., Wendy Z. and Mellisa I., debated the very same topic, swaying all hearts with their strong, fierce arguments.

Congratulations to all the debaters who represented St. Augustine, showing off their skills through their intelligence, determination and enthusiasm. Be sure to wish your fellow debaters good luck as they prepare to compete in the second round of the Pro Con Debating Forum Competition!

Go Titans go!
