Memorize the math formulas. Study all the cycles for science. Practice writing for English. I’m about to go crazy from all of this studying!
Finding yourself way too stressed from exams and all the studying you have to do? Don’t worry because we have some tips and tricks for you for exam season!
As exams approach, the stress can start to build up, leaving us feeling like we might just explode while trying to learn the periodic table. To better prepare, we can take that away by simply talking to someone we love. Whether it’s a family member, or a friend going through the same time, letting your feeling out releases lots of stress from our bodies. By doing this you are letting out all the frustration you might have, the anxiety you might develop about taking the exam and you can also clear your mind. After your conversation you can feel refreshed, like a weight has been lifted off your shoulder. Before going for another round of studying, it’s important to go in with a clear mind so you can focus on the material you’re reviewing. With talking to a loved one your studying can become more efficient and you can then begin working toward you desired final mark, semi-stress free.
“Go to sleep!” Sleep is one of the most important factors of de-stressing, not just during exam time. For a healthy lifestyle, teens should be getting a total of 9 ½ hours, that means to stop procrastinating and start studying early! Getting the right amount of sleep every night would improve your memory and decision making. Trying to cram all the information the night before the exam and pulling an all nighter wouldn’t help with your thinking. If anything, it would distract you from studying because it just makes you think of how much you want to go to sleep, not the information on the sheet! Resting and taking naps would enhance your brain activity and would decrease your stress level. Instead of staying up till four in the morning and worrying, study early and stay healthy!
Did you know going outside can help reduce stress? With the sun shining, birds chirping and wind blowing, going outdoors helps you in many ways. Studies have shown that taking a simple walk around the block will help reduce your stress, increase brain activity and promote creativity. Isn’t that perfect for exam season? Reducing the stress built up over time, helping your brain absorb more information, and helping you remember the information for the big day. Instead of studying for 6 hours straight without any breaks, you would be able to do well on your exam just because of a simple walk outside. Going outdoors would show you the simple beauties in your everyday life and lift your spirits as well! Even if it is -10°C outside and you can see your own breath, you would be able to open your mind to the simple beauties you’ve never noticed before. Maybe it’s the way the snow covers the trees or the way the cold air you’re breathing in feels. So during this time, go take a break from studying and go outside. Don’t forget to bundle up and keep yourself warm!
So the next time you are feeling stressed and overwhelmed, try out our tips and tricks! It just might get you that above average score on your exams!
