Put on your thinking caps, and swipe out your calculators because the annual Waterloo Math contests are coming around just in time for April showers. On April 11, Grade 12s will be participating in the Euclid contest. On April 12, Grade 9s, 10s, and 11s will be participating in the Fryer, Galois, and Hypatia contests, respectively. Soon after, St. Augustine will be bringing team competitors to compete in Waterloo’s team contest. It will be full of tough math questions, individual examinations and even a team relay competition. The last time St. Augustine brought teams to compete was back in 2016, where the Grade 12 and 11 teams, and single team of Grade 10s, placed well and had a blast.

Be sure to check out these Math contests to improve your contest skills, your calculator-typing skills, and your mathematical skills! Wish your fellow schoolmates good luck as they go on to tackle these mind-boggling questions.

Here’s a handy dandy pronunciation guide for those wondering how to pronounce these mathematicians’ names:

Fryer: fry-er
Galois: gah-lwa
Hypatia: high-pay-sha
Euclid: you-klid
