On May 3, 2018, music blasted through St. Augustine’s halls and the cafeteria transformed into a light show that lit up the stage. Coffee, tea and refreshments were served in the back while the masters of ceremony, Matthew C., and Lara H., kept the flow of the show and introduced the performers showing off their many talents.
The show kicked off with inspirational videos, reminding the audience why they came to the event in the first place. They came to support the ideas of Spectrum, such as bullying prevention and gender equality, while enjoying tons of unique and stunning performances. From singing and instrumental renditions, to even dancing, skits, and jaw-dropping displays of talent, the audience couldn’t take their eyes off the stage for even a moment. Act after act, the audience was hooked.
An honourable mention goes out to Aidan C. whose musical talents stretch miles. He wowed the audience with his original piece Skeletons, strumming his guitar to produce beautiful melodies. The one and only BUS broke out their moves to Go Go by BTS under the great spotlight, bright-lit camera screens waving to the beat. Professional pianist Richard G. positively captured the audience with his energetic, passion-filled piece.
Like everything else, all good things, sooner or later, will come to an end. All the festivities were wrapped up with a bow by Mr. Pezzelato and Angelica L.’s Misguided Ghosts and Flaws. With Mr. Pezzelato’s electrifying guitar and Angelica’s stunning vocals, the night burst into a great round of applause.
With such a successful event bringing to light important issues in our society, keep your eyes peeled when next year comes around — whether it be as a performer or a supportive audience member, it is sure to be the night of your life!
