The start of the school year always comes with a few bumps in the road, especially for the new Grade 9s who are adjusting to the new setting. However, Titans always have the courage to overcome any obstacles that come our way. For the month of September, Veronica Palermo was recognized the Titan of the Month for being an excellent example of a real St. Augustine Titan.

To learn more about her, we asked her a few questions about the adjustment, her experiences and more.

1. Why were you recognized as Titan of the Month?

“I was recognized as the Titan of the Month for being courageous. Throughout the month of September I faced many setbacks and through all the setbacks, I had a lot of courage to keep going.”

2. How are you enjoying St. A’s so far?

“My experience at St. A’s is awesome! I have made so many new friends and participated in so many new things.”

3. What was the transition between elementary and high school like?

“The transition from elementary school to high school was pretty difficult because of so many changes, but I got used to it.”

4. What are you looking forward to doing / experiencing in your four years of high school?

“I am looking forward to joining new clubs and taking different courses to see what they offer. I am also excited for lasting friendships and different course opportunities.”

Veronica was one of the many Grade 9s that entered our school this year, but she was the one who had the courage to keep going and not give up. Despite all the change and obstacles she faced, she never gave up and is looking forward to the next 4 years. We hope that you are able to have the same mentality as Veronica and keep persevering. Who knows, you could be the next Titan of the Month!
