On Wednesday, November 13, Thornlea Secondary School’s pool and the gym was filled with swimmers from seven high schools in the area. Officials, swimmers, coaches, milled about the gym as preparations were made to begin the swim meet. Among the six schools, St. Augustine’s 40 swimmers and other timers did not stand out as the loudest, your Titans did, however, stand out as a team.
St. Augustine’s navy blue swim caps, emblazoned with a bolded Titan “T” along the front, were visible for anyone on deck to see. The team ended strong in both their relays and individual events, with their teammates eagerly cheering them on as they raced. These athletes represented St. Augustine in a sportsmanlike manner, celebrating both their wins and losses.
The final results were incredible. In each event, only the top 6 swimmers advance to compete in the YRAA championships. This year, several of your St. Augustine swimmers qualified for the regional competition. St. Augustine ranked 4th overall, 3rd in women’s events, and 4th in men’s.
The YRAA championships will take place on December 11th. We wish the team the best of luck.
