“So enjoy your time here, learn from your mistakes, and most importantly, treat people with kindness.”-Nour Fahim Iskander
The crunch before midterms and the taste of Christmas, November is a busy time for all of us. One of the highlights of this month was definitely the multiple initiatives by Spectrum. From the anti-bullying magic show and fun-filled morning activities with a powerful message behind it all. The people who were a part of this initiative were Austin Lo and Nour Fahim Iskander. We congratulate them for the great things they have done in bringing in positivity to St. Augustine. We asked a few questions to both recipients to get to know them a little bit better.
- Why were you recognized as the Titans of the Month?
Austin: I was recognized as a Titan of the Month for the anti-bullying initiatives that were hosted by Spectrum, which helped bring more positivity and inclusivity into our school community.
Nour: I think Austin and I were recognized for Titans of the month because of all of the effort that went into anti-bullying week and all the risks that we took to make it happen, like the buttons.
- Since it’s your last year at St. Augustine’s, what kind of mark do you want to leave?
Austin: Since it’s my last year at St. A’s, I want to leave a positive mark on the school community where more people can get along with one another and strive together.
Nour: I think I want to leave this school as a better and more positive place than it was before I came.
- How has St. Augustine affected your life and how has it helped you grow into the person you are today?
Austin: St. A’s has affected my life as it has given me opportunities to enrich my high school experience from extracurriculars and getting involved. My peers and teachers have also helped me grow into the person I am today by motivating me to do my best.
Nour: With the chaos that comes with academics and extracurriculars, it has posed a challenge that has helped me grow into hopefully a stronger individual that knows how to create a balanced schedule.
- What are your future ambitions?
Austin: At the moment, my future ambition is to pursue a career in dentistry but we’ll see if that comes to fruition.
Nour: I hope to become an engineer and through that build a better world, both figuratively and literally.
- Any advice for Titans?
Austin: My advice for Titans is to live in the moment and to focus on things right in front of you, instead of worrying about things in the past or future. Also don’t procrastinate (lol). Don’t give yourself the excuse that “You don’t have time” when you’ve been on your phone for 2 hours.
Nour: I guess I’ll share my big takeaway from the past four years with the rest of Titans: Sometimes certain events make you feel like it’s the end of the world, I just want you to know that nothing that happens in high school will be your be all and end all. So enjoy your time here, learn from your mistakes, and most importantly, treat people with kindness.
We loved the very thoughtful and meaningful answers from these two! It was a pleasure to hear from them and take away their great advice for all Titans. We want to wish them the best of luck in their studies as they continue to strive for greatness. Congratulations to Austin Lo and Nour Fahim Iskander for being the Titans of the month!
