“‘Tis the season to drive safely”

OSAID

This holiday season, the Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving Council at St. Augustine are raising awareness surrounding impaired driving through their Chain of Life and Virtual Holiday Bingo initiatives.

OSAID’s Chain of Life initiative called students to take the pledge against impaired driving. Virtually, students took the pledge by printing, signing, and submitting OSAID’s “I pledge against impaired driving…” pledge. Photo submissions from students who took the pledge were compiled into a series of collages and are posted on OSAID’s Instagram page.

OSAID’s Virtual Holiday Bingo invites students to participate in a game of bingo for the chance to win one of two $10 gift cards. Virtually modified, this classic game takes the form of a Google Document where students create their own bingo cards with symbols and icons —related to the holidays and impaired driving— provided by OSAID. Bingo card submissions closed on December 5th, and the game, held on OSAID’s Instagram, will take place this week, December 7th to 11th. So, keep an eye out for your selected Bingo icons!

Through these school-community initiatives, OSAID advocates for safe driving during this holiday season and raises awareness surrounding impaired driving and its dangers. In keeping with St. Augustine’s initiative, “No Titan Walks Alone,” OSAID’s holiday events call upon the student body to come together and combat impaired driving this season, and all seasons.

“Remember to stay alive and don’t drink and drive this holiday season!”
