As Catholics, one of the most important times of the year is coming up. The start of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, where the leftover palms from the previous year’s Palm Sunday are burned and used to mark a cross on our foreheads. Our Lenten journey is a time for reflection, giving, and sacrifice. A common way of starting off this journey is by celebrating! Mardi Gras, Pancake Tuesday or Shrove Tuesday is a time of feasting before embarking on the season of Lent. This day is most commonly celebrated by eating pancakes! As we move forward with the traditions of our religious year, let’s not forget the importance of Lent and Easter and the sacrifice Jesus did for us.
“Then the Lord formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”
Genesis 2:7
