Our winter wonderland has finally arrived! Though the past season has been mostly muddy slush at best, recent weather events consisted of heavy snowfall–even prompting a snow day on the 16th. In light of these changes, we have compiled a list of fun snow day activities that you can enjoy with your family!
Build a snowman
Building a snowman is a great way to stay active and enjoy all the fresh snow outside! As an added bonus, sometimes you get to see animals check out your snowman, especially if you include a carrot nose.
Build a snow fort
Building snow forts is a fun bonding activity to do with your family. If you want to get competitive with it, split yourselves up into two groups and see who can create the tallest/sturdiest fort in a certain amount of time. From there, you can also have a snowball fight–but try to avoid taking someone’s eye out!
Make some hot chocolate/chocolate bombs
Hot chocolate is a classic winter treat! Alternatively, you can make some chocolate bombs, a new and creative way to make hot chocolate. First, you need to make a hollow sphere of chocolate, filled with marshmallows. Then, when you pour warm milk over it, the chocolate will melt and all the marshmallows will come bubbling up! After mixing the melted chocolate in with the milk, it transforms into pure, chocolatey goodness! Check out this recipe for more information.
Go sledding
If you have the urge to feel alive, simply find a hill near you and zip down it on a sled! Not only will you get a rush of adrenaline, but the winter breeze will stimulate your senses and wake you up (metaphorically; please don’t go sledding asleep). If you don’t have a toboggan or sled sheet, here are some instructions to make your own.
Even if you don’t like the snow, we advise you to at least go out and get some fresh air! Changing your environment will relax the mind and further boost productivity. And who knows, this could be one of the last few major snowfalls of the season, so take full advantage!
