On Saturday, February 27th, seven students from St. Augustine competed in the National High School Ethics Bowl hosted by the University of Toronto’s Philosophy Department. St. Augustine competed with four schools across Ontario including Maple High, Northern Secondary, St. Francis Xavier, and Marc Garneau. St. Augustine discussed a variety of cases with each school including teen vaping, algorithms and artificial intelligence, toxic masculinity, criminal records, weaponized drones, deep-sea mining, Canada as a world power, and high school dropouts. St. Augustine students won three out of four matches, with a total of six points! It was definitely a great achievement for students, and their hard work and commitment paid off in the end! We look forward to future Ethics Bowl events in the future.
