The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge marked their 10 year wedding anniversary by releasing new pictures of the couple lovingly embracing each other. The newly released photos seem to be of the couple recreating photos from their engagement by wearing similar shades of blue. The milestone celebration came just 12 days after the passing of the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip.
The couple originally met in 2001 when they both started their post secondary education at St. Andrew’s University in Scotland, both working towards their own bachelor degrees. The couple were friends at first, but eventually graduated from University and continued their relationship outside of school.
In 2007, the couple split in March, and reconciled in June of that same year. As quoted by Kate Middleton about the split; “We were both very young… we were both finding ourselves and being different characters. It was very much trying to find our own way and we were growing up so it was just a bit of space and it worked out for the better.”.
After the split, Kate was unfortunately unable to attend many official royal events with William due to the fact she was yet to be a member of the family. Throughout this period, she was often seen at his polo matches, cheering from the sidelines, or outside doing many recreational activities; at this time the media often labeled them “the outdoorsy couple”.
Three years later, the Duke proposed to the Duchess November 16th 2010, gifting her with his late mother’s (Princess Diana), sapphire ring. Tying the knot 5 months after the public announcement.
For the past 10 years, Kate has always been by Willam’s side. At public events, royal tours all across the world, numerous dinners, galas and red carpet events. Since then, they have had three children together in 2013, 2015, and 2018, further extending the line of the family. After 10 years of marriage, the couple were gifted with “tin” to symbolize the durability of their relationship.
