Remembrance Day is an important day in our history. Remembrance Day was first known as Armistice Day, which dates back to November 11, 1918. This was a memorable day, as the end of World War I was declared. On November 11th, we remember fallen soldiers and those who have sacrificed their lives for the greater good of our country. We honour those who served in the First and Second World Wars and those who continue to serve in the military, today.

This year at St.Augustine, our extremely talented artists have designed and painted wooden crosses using poppies and famous quotes such as “Lest We Forget”. The art installation is actually interactive, as classes will be visiting the installation in the front foyer and taking their poppies from the banners. Students are encouraged to donate a loonie or toonie to the donation box near the art. The drama students have also put together reenactments for the classes to view.

The St. Augustine community is encouraged to donate, and to reflect on and remember the importance of this day.
