As you have probably heard, mass casualty took place at rapper and producer Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival. This tragedy involved the deaths of 10 people, which took place in a span of 2 hours at the NRG Park. The number of deaths along with the hundreds of injuries that occurred has taken the country, social media, and his fans by shock. 

In case you didn’t know about this, here is a quick summary of events:

  • At 9:12 pm, people began to start screaming for help. 
  • At 9:30 pm, people were trampled over, which led them to be severely injured. Someone also tried to alert a camera operator but was ignored. 
  • At 9:32 pm, another person tried to alert a camera operator but was also ignored. 
  • At 9:38 pm, the decision is made to end the live tv show early. 
  • Then, at 9:42 pm, Travis Scott finally noticed a group of people in distress and allowed security to help an unconscious person, who then checked on multiple other people, throughout the crowd. 
  • At 10:11, the show officially ended. 

It was later discovered that 8 people were killed in this tragedy.

  • Madison Dubiski, 23

A week later, Bharti Shahani, a 22-year-old, was announced to have died in hospital. Four days later, Ezra Blount, a 9-year-old boy, was announced to have died from his injuries. Hundreds of people are estimated to be injured. 

Later, NRG Park officially came out with a statement that they would be cooperating with the police and local authorities in understanding the investigation. Travis Scott also came out to apologize and to give his condolences to the tragedy. 

Ultimately, this tragic incident could have been prevented if proper precautions were taken. After learning about this, consider sending your thoughts, prayers or donations to those directly affected by this terrible occurrence.
