Happy New Year Titans! After returning to a modified Step 2 and closing schools for two weeks, Ontario is finally easing restrictions on January 31st, 2022.
On January 5th, 2022, the Ontario government established additional restrictions to slow the spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant. We returned to a modified “Step 2”. This means a ban on indoor dining, shutting down gyms, capacity restrictions, which unfortunately include online learning for students for 2 weeks. Students were cleared to return to school on the 17th, yet most other restrictions remained in place.
On January 20th, 2022, Premier Doug Ford announced that most establishments will be at a 50 percent capacity limit starting January 31st. These establishments include restaurants, malls, cinemas, attractions, and religious services. Gathering limits increase from 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors. Events like sporting events and concerts will be at a limit of 500 people or 50 percent. Mask mandates and proof of vaccinations continue.
Schools are also going back to normal with the semester system back into effect, and what looks like case numbers slowly dropping. There seems to be light at the end of the tunnel.
Let’s all remain positive and stay safe, Titans!
