With everything going on with school and work, families everywhere are in need of a nice break. Family day is coming up on Monday, February 21st and with this chaotic year full of work and stress, it’s important for individuals to step away from everything for a bit to be with the ones they love. Whether it be family or friends, there are so many things you can do to have fun on this great day off.
Go on a family walk
Though it is very cold in Canada, that doesn’t mean you can’t bundle up and go on a nice family walk. There are many parks and areas in Markham that are open for walking such as Unionville Valleylands Trail, Toogood Pond Park or Unionville Main street.
Family Pottery
On Unionville main street, there’s a walk-in pottery place called “Crock A Doodle Unionville.” You simply enter the shop and pick out an unpainted ceramics piece such as a bowl, plate, mug, and more. Then, you pick out the colours you like, sit down, and paint it however you like. This is a great activity as it allows you to catch up with friends and family, as well as relax by the means of art therapy.
Watch a movie
Movie theatres are open and have many great movies available such as “Uncharted,” “Spider-man No Way Home,” “Sing 2,” and “Scream.” All of these movies are a great watch for the whole family or a group of friends. However, you can always watch movies on streaming services like Netflix if you aren’t comfortable with going out.
Do a family zoom call
Due to the pandemic, some people haven’t been able to go out to see their families in person. Zoom or google meets are a great way to connect with your loved ones from a distance. You can set up a time to catch up with everyone and have a great time.
Have a nice family dinner
Though some restaurants are open right now it can be more fun to make dinner all together. In preparation for the meal, everyone must work with each other and, as a result, bond over the task.
