Singer, songwriter, actress and overall internet persona Olivia Rodrigo performed at Massey Hall on April 29th and 30th. I was fortunate to attend her concert on April 30th. The concert doors opened at 7:00 p.m., but many people camped out at the venue from the night before. Most people showed up after 6:00 p.m. and by that time the line was wrapped around the building. Once you entered the concert hall, you were led up a staircase to the main lobby. In the main lobby, her team presented merchandise, which also had an extremely long line for purchase. Luckily, the line went by fast and you were able to find your seats before the concert started. Holly Humberstone, a talented singer-songwriter from London, England, opened the concert for Olivia. Holly’s opening act was amazing and she blew away the crowd. After Holly finished, there was a quick intermission before Olivia Rodrigo came on. At around 9:20 p.m., Olivia finally made her way to the stage. Her band, which consists of five amazing ladies, did a phenomenal job on stage. Olivia sang all 11 songs off her album Sour, a song she wrote for the show High School Musical, The Musical, The Series and two cover songs. Most people know Olivia from her first song Driver’s License, which was #1 on the billboard for three weeks. Olivia was made to be on stage; for her first tour, she had so much stage presence and sounded even better live. She easily got the crowd on their feet dancing, cheering, and even crying. Olivia did a great job interacting with her audience and ensured that everyone was having fun. Overall the Sour tour was a sweet gig, and I recommend getting tickets for her next one.
