As the busiest academic season approaches, here are three tips to help your finals season go by a little bit faster.

- Focus on one task at a time
Frequently during this time of the year, homework, assignments and tests all overlap- usually resulting in stress. To help alleviate some of that stress, try to complete your to-do list one task at a time instead of trying to do everything all at once. This will help you focus on your desired task and give everything an equal amount of your attention.
- Try different methods of studying
With many tests and quizzes approaches it is a perfect time to look into different studying techniques. It is scientifically shown that certain subjects have an ideal way of studying for them. For example doing practice problems and active recall is an effective way to study for the sciences and maths. Whereas in English and history, revision using the pomodoro timer technique has shown to be helpful for a lot of students. Other studying techniques you can look into are explaining the concept to someone else, creating mnemonic devices and practice tests.
- Take time for yourself
During this stressful time it is especially important to be taking breaks and doing things that you enjoy besides school. Although it is important to keep up with academics, constant studying and work can easily lead to burnout and mental exhaustion which never results in productivity. Additionally, by balancing enjoyment with academics you will feel more motivated to study and succeed.
