Worried that you’re going to be bored over the summer? Get crafty at home or with your friends with the following summer activities! These simple crafts are not costly, and can be used for decorating or fun this summer!
- Beat the heat with this simplistic craft: fan designing. Just fold a few times and you will have something to keep you cool this summer! Click this link to learn how to fold a custom fan. If you want to be a little more extra and want a moving one, please click this link to learn more. You can always add your own creativity by adding some stickers or some glitter to it!
- Another craft that you can make is a birdhouse. During the warmer months, birds are starting to take to the air again. If you want to keep a bird near your home and feed it, making your own custom birdhouse is the best way to do just that this summer! Some materials you will need include wood and a drill (parental supervision is advised). Please be careful while making your own birdhouse as it may be dangerous when operating a drill. Please also have some bird seeds ready to go if you are planning to feed your birds!
- Another fun activity to flex your fingers would be to fold origami flowers! Origami flowers can be a great addition to outdoor patios or window sills in the summer months. For the beginners, try these easy tulip or lotus flowers! For the more advanced, why not cave in, or fold in, to your inner passion for flowers and make these lovely origami roses and lavender flowers? Besides, we can guarantee that none of these paper flowers will attract any sort of insects or bees! Visually appealing and anti-insect, just the way we like it!
- If you want to shower your room with dazzling rays of color, try making these beautiful homemade DIY rainbow resin suncatchers! This is a very hands-on project that produces a beautiful result. However, as a safety precaution for this project, it is best to wear a respirator with organic vapor filters and nitrile gloves while handling the materials. If you want a different kind of suncatcher, look into these suncatchers made from jewelry, and try making that instead! You can use this link as well to help!
- If you have any plain and boring pots sitting around in your house, why not take the chance to decorate them? Painting flower pots can be really fun and all you need is a paintbrush and some paint. Draw a design first on the pot with a marker or pen and trace some other designs out if you want! You can then start painting adding some stickers after it dries up. Your flower pots finally have some style to it!
