The Toronto Argonauts beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 24-23, winning them the Grey Cup on Sunday night.

The team last took home the championship title in 2017. This year, they end Winnipeg’s back-to-back reign and prevent a third straight Cup for the Bombers. Winnipeg were the favourites coming in with a CFL-best 15-3 regular season record. On the other hand, Toronto closed off the season first in the East for a second straight year with an 11-7 record.

The teams went head to head at the new Mosaic Stadium in Saskatchewan, in front of an announced sellout of over 33,000 spectators. Pre-game festivities kicked off with a nine-plane flyover by the 431 Air Demonstration Squadron, formerly the Royal Canadian Air Force’s Snowbirds. Temperatures dropped from -2 C to -4 C in the second half, with winds reaching 28 km/h. Practicing all week outdoors, Winnipeg native Andrew Harris defied the cold, saying “it’s not cold enough.”

Argos’ A.J. Ouellette scored two touchdowns, while linebacker Henoc Muamba was announced the game’s most valuable player. The team being quite deserving of their win, brought their 18th Gray Cup home to Maple Leaf Square on Thursday celebrating with coaches, staff, family, and fans. Once again, Ontarians are proud to celebrate the Toronto Argonauts’ Championship!
