In Uganda, only one out every four adolescents can attend secondary school. Due to school fees and many other costs associated with schooling, many teens—especially girls—are kept out of high school.
To improve this situation, the HEART committee regularly hosts events to raise money for STA’s sister schools in Uganda, and from October 23rd to 27th, the HEART committee will be hosting HEART week. As part of HEART week, there are a variety of events. Until Thursday, HEART will be hosting a bake sale in the main foyer, where you can expect to find delicious brownies, cookies, cake pops, donuts, cupcakes and more ranging from 1-3 dollars. Additionally, all throughout the week, they will be selling Trick or Treat bags which will each have three candies and two stickers inside of them. What’s more, on Tuesday in particular, the committee will be hosting a school-wide civvies day at the cost of 2 dollars, and students are encouraged to wear the colours of the Ugandan flag: red, white, yellow and black.
Growing up in a privileged society, we have a right to help out those in need, so do your part; help out HEART.
