Did you know that over 16% of households in Ontario are vulnerable to food insecurity? This means that roughly 2,340,000 people in the province are unable to afford nutritional food on a daily basis, resorting to empty calories or skipping meals. Children in particular are incredibly negatively affected by improper nutrition as it can result in stunted growth and additional problems later in life.
In order to combat this, from October 23rd to November 3rd, Matt 25 will be hosting a food drive in collaboration with the Good Shepherd food bank. The Good Shepherd is a charity organization that operates the largest food bank in Toronto among other services. Students are encouraged to bring in non-perishables and canned foods, including but not limited to: canned soup, canned beans, dried fruits, cereals, crackers, and other packaged items. Any of those foods would be greatly appreciated. Remember; no titan walks alone.
