On Friday October 13th 2023, one of the biggest fan groups in the world flooded into theaters, full of excitement and  in extravagant costumes – these people are commonly known as Swifties.

Being the most popular pop artist to date, Taylor Swift has 275 million followers on Instagram and is the second most streamed artist on Spotify. Having produced 10 studio albums, 4 re-recorded albums, five extended plays and four live albums, Swift is singing through all 10 ‘eras’ of her life for her sixth world tour of her career – The Eras Tour.

Spanning over three hours, this tour was unlike any tour she has done before. Tickets were sold out within minutes of all concert dates. Many Swifties fought for the opportunity to be in attendance. Some were even willing to travel to Paris to see her. For those who didn’t get tickets, Taylor announced the release of her movie adaptation of the tour – Taylor Swift: The Era’s Tour.

Being a Swiftie myself, I was determined to get the tickets to the movie as I had no chance of getting the concert tickets. I bought the movie tickets weeks in advance of the release date. However, I was unable to get them for opening night as they were already sold out. Nonetheless, I ended up getting three tickets for my two friends and I. We began to count the days…

Once the day arrived, we were very excited to see the movie. We dressed up and bought a bucket of popcorn (in an Eras bucket of course). The theater was packed with people of all ages dressed up like Taylor herself, all of them as excited as we were. Once the movie started, the theater became a stadium. All the fans were singing, dancing and screaming as if we were at the concert itself. The film captured 41 songs from the live tour such as ‘Love Story’, ‘Don’t Blame Me’ and ‘August’, all of which were performed with great stage presence from Taylor. The videography was amazing, the colors were so vibrant and the audio was perfect. The camera angles captured all of Taylor’s gorgeous outfits and the set design was crazier than we expected. After three hours, I wished for the movie to begin again and to relive the experience. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine the sense of family when we were singing along with all those strangers. Swiftie or not, the Era’s Movie was definitely worth seeing and will leave you enchanted.
