Last week, Elon Musk announced the creation of Grok. Grok is the new AI model which was created in an effort to challenge ChatGPT. It’s the first product of Musk’s xAI company and was developed over the course of 2 months. The AI was made significantly quicker in comparison to other AI models.

Grok uses data from X which gives it real-time information about the world as well as obtaining training from humans to prevent incoherent, biased or dangerous outputs. Currently, Musk’s AI model has only been tested by a small group of users within the United States. After additional testing and improvements, Musk plans on sharing access to Grok with subscribers of X Premium Plus. This was fueled by his desire to make X not just a social media platform but a more versatile app with many functions. Unfortunately, the general public won’t get to experience it anytime soon. Musk’s goal with his new AI project is to build a model that can assess the reliability of its own outputs and can request assistance from its users.

Previously, Musk was one of the co-founders of OpenAI; the company that created ChatGPT. However, he stopped working with the company due to concerns regarding the speed of development of AI. He has also voiced his fears about how AI systems threaten humanity.

Now, he’s back in the business and determined to form AI systems “in a good way,” as he stated in an interview.
