Oscars 2024 was a masterpiece – a symbolic resurgence of the pre-pandemic greatness of the Academy Awards. The ceremony was a big success, putting on a bustling show and garnering 19.5 million views. Let’s see who the major winners are!
- Oppenheimer
2023 was the year of Barbenheimer (with two box office hits Oppenheimer and Barbie released close to each other), and the Oscars clearly signaled their love for the latter of the two. Oppenheimer won a total of 7 Academy Awards, the most in this ceremony. The blockbuster took home:
- Best Picture
- Best Actor
- Best Supporting Actor
- Best Director
- Best Film Editing
- Best Cinematography
- Best Original Score
This was a huge win for Oppenheimer fans, but what about Barbie?
- Barbie
Unfortunately for Barbie fans, this film did not fare too well. They only managed to win 1 award: Best Original Song for What Was I Made For?, by American singer Billie Eilish. Both director Greta Gerwig and stress Margot Robbie missed out on Academy Awards, contrary to previous predictions. This disappointing performance led to uproar from Barbie fans, with some believing that they have been robbed of the awards that they deserve.
Ultimately, the 2024 Oscars was an illustrious success on the whole, both for the organization and the recipients.
What do you think? Do you agree with these award decisions?
