Matt 25 is hosting its annual event to raise awareness on social justice issues during Catholic Education Week, taking place from May 6-10, 2024.

Below, you can find an overview of the week’s events to participate in! Each day of the week celebrates a theme in honour of Catholic Education Week, with the overall theme being “We are Called to Love.”

Monday, May 6: As People of Hope

In honour of the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls on May 5, the front foyer will host a red dress art installation. Students and homeroom classes are invited to tie a piece of red cloth to the installation as a sign of solidarity.

Tuesday, May 7: As People of Faith

During all three lunches, students can sign a banner with a pledge towards social justice.

Wednesday, May 8: As People of Mercy

To raise awareness about water scarcity, a water jug game will be hosted during all three lunches, where players must complete a race course while holding a water jug.

Thursday, May 9: As People of Justice

To shed light on the overall theme of social justice, information cards will be handed out to students with facts about social justice issues. Students’ knowledge will be put to the test in Matt 25’s game for We the Titans.

Friday, May 10: As People of Joy

A video compilation of STA community members doing things they love will be played in the cafe during all three lunches. The “Capturing Joy” video aims to highlight what brings people joy.

Matt 25 hopes to create an event that encompasses STA’s values and faith while bringing the school community together!
