The Christmas season is just around the corner, and with that comes Christmas movies. One of the first films to come to mind is the first installment of the Home Alone series. The first Home Alone movie is a comedy released in 1990, focusing on an eight-year old boy named Kevin who was accidentally left home alone for a few days when his family forgot him on their Christmas vacation. During these few days, Kevin has to find multiple creative solutions to defend his house from robbers.
This film is a classic, however, is it still a good movie to watch today? After rewatching it, I would say yes! Macaulay Culkin, the actor who portrayed Kevin, did a fantastic job and really brought the character to life, showcasing Kevin’s mischievous but charming personality. The actors who portrayed the robbers, or the “Wet Bandits” also did an excellent job. Both kids and adults alike will definitely enjoy their reactions and fun dynamic. Kevin’s inventive traps are both iconic and entertaining, making this an excellent choice for a Christmas movie night.
This movie also shows us how important family is, especially during the holidays. The end is incredibly heartwarming, as Kevin and his family are reunited. You can really see the Christmas magic coming alive in this movie. Overall, Home Alone is a timeless holiday classic that blends humour, festive spirit, and heartwarming moments. Its engaging plot and memorable performances ensure it remains a beloved Christmas tradition for all ages alike, making it a must-watch.
