At St. Augustine Catholic High School, the Chaplaincy Council serves as a vital part of our community. This student-led council brings together a team of dedicated students who help organize and lead religious events, masses, and spiritual activities throughout the year. Their mission is to create a welcoming space for everyone to explore faith, express gratitude, and engage in meaningful reflection. One standout event they coordinated recently had been the Muskoka Woods mass, which left a lasting impact on everyone who attended.
The Muskoka Woods mass, organized by the Chaplaincy Council, was an event filled with energy, music, and heartfelt moments. As soon as we arrived, we could sense it was going to be a unique experience. The mass was held outdoors, allowing us to connect more deeply with nature as we prayed, sang, and reflected. The beautiful setting helped remind us of the blessings in our lives and the importance of being grateful for them.
One of the most memorable aspects of the Muskoka Woods mass was the music. The Chaplaincy Council had arranged for live music that allowed everyone to sing along enthusiastically. From traditional hymns to more contemporary worship songs, the music helped students feel united as we raised our voices together. Singing was accompanied by clapping and even dancing at times, creating a joyful atmosphere. The council members encouraged everyone to join in, making sure that no one felt left out. This spirit of inclusion and togetherness was one of the highlights of the mass, which made it truly unforgettable.
Beyond the fun and music, the Chaplaincy Council also made time for personal reflection during the Muskoka Woods mass. Between songs and prayers, we were invited to pause and think about our lives, our goals, and the people we cherish. It was a moment to reflect on what truly mattered, away from the distractions of daily life. This guided reflection gave each of us a chance to consider how we could live more mindfully and with a greater sense of purpose. The council’s approach was thoughtful and considerate, allowing everyone to reflect in their own way.
Gratitude was another theme woven throughout the Muskoka Woods mass, and the Chaplaincy Council led us in giving thanks for the people and experiences that shaped our lives. They organized a “gratitude circle” where students could share what they were thankful for, whether it was family, friends, or the opportunity to be part of a supportive school community. Hearing others express their gratitude helped us recognize our own blessings and appreciate the love and support surrounding us. The Chaplaincy Council’s encouragement to give thanks brought us closer as a group and reminded us of the positive impact gratitude can have on our lives.
Through events like the Muskoka Woods mass, the Chaplaincy Council continues to play a crucial role in strengthening the bonds within our school community. They help us connect with our faith, foster a sense of gratitude, and build relationships based on respect and kindness. Whether it’s planning a mass, leading a reflection session, or simply lending an ear to someone in need, the Chaplaincy Council brings a sense of warmth and purpose to our school. Their efforts inspire us all to live with more faith, joy, and gratitude every day.
