With fifty provincial competitors, a two-night stay over, thirty individual awards, and three provincial champions, St. Augustine’s DECA chapter left downtown Toronto over the weekend with great success and lasting memories.

Over the weekend of February 5-7, St. Augustine’s very own DECA chapter competed with hundreds of other Ontario students to demonstrate their business knowledge, adaptability, collaboration, and speaking skills. With events in marketing, finance, hospitality and tourism, entrepreneurship, and business management, our students worked through roleplays and multiple choice exams.

Although part of the focus was the competition, the fifty students made lasting memories and friendships. Staying in the same hotel on the same floor and in the same hall brought together all the students. From late night practices and team debriefs to walks in the Eaton Centre, STA’s school spirit was evident all the way.

The award ceremony was the highlight of the weekend, as members from our school walked across the stage as STA ambassadors to receive medals for top exam scores, roleplay performances, and overall placements. As well, three provincial champions, Eloise Nose, Hayley Pang, and Harrison Loveys, emerged from our chapter.

Beyond the medals, this experience allowed the members to not only grow personally, but also closer together. A big appreciation goes out to teacher supporters Ms. Brizzi, Mr. Giorgi, Ms. Tavone, and Mr. Chow, who was with the team over the three days and made this competition possible.

One of the co-presidents, Preston Lui, shared a message that encapsulates what the STA DECA team for 2025-2026 stands for: “Everyone is looking out for each other and looks like a team. I’ve had this goal to have DECA the way it is for two years now, and I am happy to see everyone succeed and do so well.” His words reflect not only the achievements of the weekend, but how our fifty member team unified and grew over the past few months.
